Review: Ikea Stocksund

Miss me?  I miss blogging and sharing- but life has been busy...

I promised a review of the Ikea couches, so here it is.  My sofas are from the Stocksund Collection and we have had them for almost a year now.  Our family room has very little wall space and needed plenty of seating that was small enough for the walls we do have.

Ikea
We purchased two of the loveseats, one side chair, the ottoman, and bench.

The Highlights:

  • The sofas are comfy, I'd say a 4 out of 5.
  • Wide choice of colors
  • Washable, zip-close, cushion and arm covers
  • Choice of foot color-dark or light
  • The bench has storage (toys, blankets, etc.)
  • Nicely priced

Lowlights:

  • Can't reverse the lower seat cushions
  • Not stain resistant
  • Legs loosen easily (maybe it's the jumping kids)

Overall, I would say they've held up great, considering we have had a lot of traffic on these babies!  I let the kids eat on them and of course the dog sleeps up there once in a while ;)

Since my purchase, Ikea added a red velvety cover and I WANT these for winter, if only on the chair...

    1. Hi Marie, We have had them almost two years and the sofas are still comfortable, clean, and intact. (That's saying something with four sons and a huge dog) However, the bench has had setback, the legs came right off the bottom. I know this was the work of a few of my kids jumping off of it! As for the ottoman, it is holding up well, and we use it daily. Hope this helps!

  2. Hi I love the style of this sofa range. just wondering whether the back is high enough to support head/neck when sitting on it? Does anyone know? We have an IKEA Soderhamn sofa currently, love the design but it's so low it's only comfy with loads of cushions or when laying down. Thanks

  3. Hi I love the look of this but how supportive is it for your head/neck? We are tall and currently have a soderhamn ikea sofa which we find too tow to sit comfortably unless you lay down. Is the back high enough to give support when sitting back on it?

    1. I feel your (neck) pain! These sofas do not offer ample head and neck support, and I have been complaining about this for about a year now! I feel that all Ikea sofas are extremely low for some reason. I get that they are "apartment" size furnishings, but I feel like that shouldn't require them to be so short!

  4. Hello, I am worried about wear and tear because the cushions sit out from the base. Are they looking sad or bent down after a couple years of use?

    1. Hi Sarah,
I think they've held up nicely considering I even let the 115 lb dog up on them! They are deep, so we always "curl up" on them rather than leaving our legs against the edge-this may have helped the cushions stay in shape!
